The Project is intended to provide a 500 cubic foot per second (cfs) stormwater pumping station that will provide flood risk reduction to the Municipalities of Moonachie and Carlstadt, from flooding events similar to Superstorm Sandy. The Project includes installation of a 500 cfs partially below-grade pumping station, a 96-inch below grade discharge pipe, an electrical building, and an energy dissipation structure.

The Work of the project is defined by the Contract Documents and consist of the following:

1. Pumping Station

a. Installation of five (5) stormwater pumps
b. Installation of two (2) dewatering pumps
c. Construction of partially below-grade cast-in-place concrete pumping station
including intake structure and retaining wall structures
d. Installation of piles and pile caps
e. Regrading of East Riser Ditch for transition from ditch's bed to pumping
station intake structure
f. Installation of inlet slide gates
g. Installation of exterior bridge crane system
h. Installation of monorail and clam bucket for screen cleaning
i. Installation of pumping station and intake instrumentation.

2. Electrical Building

a. Construction of a custom brick and block electrical building including stairs,
platform, and railings
b. Installation of piles and pile caps
c. Installation of a diesel fuel standby generator
d. Installation of an HVAC system
e. Installation of electrical equipment required to power the pumping station
including motor control centers and variable frequency drives.

3. 96-Inch Discharge Pipe

a. Installation of 96-inch steel pipe
b. Installation of cathodic protection system
c. Installation of piles and pile caps.
4. Energy Dissipation Structure

a. Construction of a cast-in-place concrete energy dissipation structure
b. Installation of piles and pile caps
c. Installation of outlet riprap
d. Grading of Berry's Creek for transition to creek bed
e. Slope stabilization.

5. Exterior Improvements

a. Installation of a utility transformer and elevated equipment pad
b. Constuction/installation of the diesel fuel storage system including elevated
platform and two (2) storage tanks
c. Installation of a pile-supported concrete retaining wall along the East Riser
Ditch
d. Installation of Exterior Fencing
e. Construction of a paved site access road
f. Construction of an O&M access road
g. Installation of piles and pile caps for exterior improvement structures.
h. Rerouting of existing storm water conveyance system including storm water
piping, precast concrete structures, and associated pile and pile caps
i. Construction of new on-site storm water treatment including two (2) sand
filter basins containing sheet pile walls
j. Rerouting of existing sanitary sewer system including piping, manholes, and
associated piles and pile caps
k. Pavement restoration within Starke Road (including permanent restoration
associated with the water main extension to be performed by Others) and
driveway on adjacent property
l. Utility relocations.

6. All other appurtenant work
