The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program in Arizona is implemented by the Business Engagement and Compliance Office. The Arizona Department of Transportation conducts a Disparity Study every three years to determine the DBE participation goals that are applicable to various projects with federal funding sources. Contract Award and DBE Commitment Reports are also available on the Arizona Department of Transportation website that provide insight into DBE participation within the state.
Does this local/state program offer reciprocal certifications with other local/state programs? As a result of federal rulemaking effective February 28, 2011, all states are required to accept DBE certification obtained in other states, unless the state finds good cause not to accept it.
Does this certification expire? Businesses certified as DBEs in Arizona will need to submit a yearly update containing various information. As long as such updates are submitted on a timely basis, the certification has no term limit for expiration.
Are there multiple agencies that offer this certification in the state? Application to certify as a DBE in Arizona is made online to the Business Engagement and Compliance Office (BECO) of the Arizona Department of Transportation.
