The disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) program in the State of Georgia allows DBEs to be recognized as such when working with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). The Equal Employment Opportunity department within GDOT heads up the DBE program. DBEs are also listed in a directory which enables good faith efforts to be made to contact these DBEs for work.

Does this local/state program offer reciprocal certifications with other local/state programs? Provisions are made for an out-of-state DBE to make interstate application for DBE certification in Georgia.

Does this certification expire? An Affidavit of No Change, available from GDOT's web site, must be submitted on an annual basis in order to maintain one's certification.

Does this program require bidders attempt to make a good-faith effort to meet participation goals? Yes, bidders must make a good-faith effort to meet participation goals on specified contracts.
