New York's Division of Minority and Women's Business Development (DMWBD) is the state's sole agency that certifies minority and women-owned businesses (MWBEs) for doing business with the state.
Companies interested in becoming MWBEs can apply online, and companies already certified can become re-certified through the DMWBD website.
In addition to certification, the DMWBD also provides other resources for MWBE firms, including training, education, outreach, and technical assistance.
The DMWBD also offers Fast Track Application functionality for: firms based in New York state and already certified by one of New York City Small Business Services, New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council, Joint Certification Committee of Erie County and City of Buffalo (JCC), The Women Presidents Educational Organization which is the NYS chapter of WBENC (NY Chapter-WPEO) or the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ); DBEs; and Federal 8(a) Business Development Program firms.

How do I get re-certified? Businesses become eligible to re-apply for certification using the online system six months before the expiry of their current certification.
