Becoming a City of Columbus-certified minority or female-owned business enterprise (M/FBE) can increase access to city-contracts for eligible businesses.

If your business is majority-owned by one or more minorities (including Hispanic- and Asian-Americans) or females, they can become a certified M/FBE through the city's Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) Office. Moreover, if a company is already certified by the the Women's Business Enterprise Council South East, The South Central Ohio Minority Business Council or the State of Ohio MBE Program, their certification may be accepted by the city.

In addition to the M/FBE certification, the EBO also certifies firms as Veteran Owned Businesses.

Does this local/state program offer reciprocal certifications with other local/state programs? Reciprocal certifiction is offered through the State of Ohio MBE Certification, Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), and Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC).

Does this certification expire? The certification is valid for a period of up to three years.
