Project Details

This project is for construction of flood protection measures in Segment C2 on the right bank of Bound Brook and in Segment H on the left bank of Bound Brook in the Borough of Middlesex, NJ. The work includes, but is not limited to, the features listed below.

Base Contract
a. Rolling steel closure gates supported on reinforced concrete monoliths, founded on drilled micropiles, across South Lincoln Ave on each side of Bound Brook - one in Segment C2 and one in Segment H
b. Reinforced concrete floodwalls on drilled micropile foundations adjoining both sides of the closure gate monoliths across South Lincoln Ave on the left bank of Bound Brook (Segment H).
c. Installation of light standards on the closure gate monoliths and associated buried conduit to provide power.
d. Temporary and/or permanent relocation of utilities both overhead and buried beneath South Lincoln Ave to facilitate construction of the closure gates.
e. Management of traffic during road closure for construction on of the South Lincoln Ave closure gates. (The contract documents require a detour.)
f. Repaving and associated restoration of South Lincoln Ave.
g. Construction of miscellaneous drainage features on and adjacent to South Lincoln Ave.
h. Installation of scour protection armor around the culverts that that convey Bound Brook beneath South Lincoln Ave.
i. Micropile load verification tests.
Option 1
a. Construction of earthen embankment levees in Segment H adjoining the concrete floodwalls both upstream (east) and downstream (west) of South Lincoln Ave.
b. Connection of the east end of the Segment H levee to the New Jersey Transit railroad embankment.
c. Construction of two water detention ponds in Segment H.
d. Construction of culverts and gatewells to control and convey water from the Segment H detention ponds to Bound Brook.
e. Construction of miscellaneous drainage features in Segment H.
f. Installation of scour/erosion protection armor on the embankments and along the banks of Bound Brook.
Option 2
a. Construction of earthen embankment levee in Segment C2.
b. Construction of pump station and pond BDR2, including control building, wet well and all associated equipment, power, instrumentation and controls, access road, connection to sanitary sewer system and drainage features.
c. Construction of pump station and pond BDR3, including control building, wet well and all associated equipment, power,
instrumentation and controls, access road and drainage features.
d. Installation of scour/erosion protection armor on the embankments and along the banks of Bound Brook.
