New Orleans Regional Transit Authority announces new online DBE portal

The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (NORTA) has announced the launch of a new online portal, the NORTA Diversity Compliance System, which provides prospective disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs) in the region with a one-stop shop for getting certified.

The previous system for certification relied on processing applications by hand - the new portal allows for businesses to complete and submit their applications for DBE certification from start to finish online. Re-certification and profile changes may also be submitted through the new portal. The portal also hosts the directory of NORTA DBEs and contains various informational resources and instructions. NORTA is the first member of the general Louisiana Unified Certification Program (LAUCP), the consortium which certifies DBEs in the state, to offer online certification. All DBEs currently certified through NORTA have had their certifications migrated to the new portal.

NORTA awarded $7.3 million in contracts to DBEs during the year of 2021, comfortably exceeding their 30% DBE utilization goal.
