City of Baltimore consolidates two MWBE agencies

MD News - Published Jul 19, 2023

Mayor Brandon M. Scott of Baltimore has announced the merge of two offices: the former Mayor's Office of Minority and Women-Owned Business Development with the Minority and Women's Business Opportunity Office. The functions of those two offices will now be taken over by the newly-organized Mayor's Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy & Development.

The new office is intended to be a one-stop shop for small and minority businesses, providing them with a single agency to deal with in seeking support, guidance, and contract opportunities. The agency intends to develop a number of new strategic partnerships and programs to assist small and minority businesses.

"I'm proud to launch this new enhancement to city government, which will serve as a catalyst for positive change and opportunities for small and minority and women-owned businesses," said Mayor Scott in a statement.
