Delaware's Office of Supplier Diversity (OSD), within the Delaware Division of Small Business (DSB), has announced the launch of a new online portal that aims to streamline the process of applying for small and diverse business certifications offered by OSD.
The portal (which is available at https://business.delaware.gov/osd/) allows for submission of application materials which previously were required in hard-copy paper format. The certifications offered by OSD which can be applied for through the portal include minority, women, veteran, service-disabled veteran, and individuals with disabilities owned businesses (referred to as Diverse Businesses) as well as small businesses meeting OSD's size criteria (referred to as Small Business Focus Certification businesses).
At the end of the 2024 fiscal year, OSD had 1,536 certified vendors on its vendors, with 1,035 of those being Diverse Businesses and 501 Small Business Focus Certification vendors. The greater automation and convenience of the online portal forms part of OSD's strategy for growing those numbers.
"We should be exploring any opportunity that can make it easier for businesses to become certified and advance their opportunities to obtain contracts with the state," said OSD Director Shavonne White in a statement.
