New York launches Empire State MWBE Hub

Governor Kathy Hochul of New York recently announced that the State was launching a new online platform, the Empire State MWBE Hub, which is intended to modernize several aspects of New York State's Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) program.

The MWBE Hub allows users to take an eligibility assessment on whether their business might qualify for the State MWBE program, as well as applying for certification directly on the platform. It also allows users to search the directory of MWBE-certified businesses, to search for state contracts, to receive technical assistance relating to the program, to manage certification-related appeals and paperwork, and to find upcoming business development events. The Hub was developed by the Empire State Development's (ESD) Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development, and was developed to work well on mobile devices as well as desktops.

The greater centralization offered by the new Hub is expected by ESD to both alleviate administrative burdens on the government's end as well as to provide greater clarity and simplicity for applicants and certified businesses.

"We are continuing to break down barriers so more MWBEs can compete, grow, create jobs and contribute to communities across our state," said Governor Hochul in a statement.
